Gayner Engineers is the Engineer of Record for the U.S. Department funded 38,000 sq.ft., $32 Million solar energy research facility for LBNL.  The building was designed to target a LEED Gold Certification.  The building systems consists of magnetic bearing chillers, condensing boilers, VAV zone heating and cooling distribution system, low approach cooling tower, exhaust heat recovery, daylight harvesting, PV power, and solar hot water generation. The construction documentation was prepared in BIM, which assisted the design coordination process and the contractor’s shop drawing preparation
